Privacy Policy
Plain English summary. We collect what's needed to match rides and keep people safe — name, phone, email, and location during rides. We don't collect or store any payment information. Riders pay drivers directly in cash or by card via the driver's own payment terminal. We don't sell your data. We share only with the service providers we need to operate (Firebase, Google Maps, Twilio) and where required by law. You can request access, correction, or deletion at any time.
Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how RMRS LLC ("RideWave," "we," "us") collects, uses, and shares personal information about riders and drivers who use the RideWave platform.
By using RideWave, you consent to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
Information We Collect
Account information
Name, email address, phone number, profile photo, and password (stored as a secure hash, not in plain text).
Ride information
Pickup and drop-off locations, routes, distance, duration, fares, ride tier, ratings, comments, and ride history.
Location data
Real-time GPS location is collected from drivers continuously while they are online and from riders during active rides. Location data is used to match rides, navigate, calculate fares, and provide real-time arrival estimates. We stop collecting location data when you are not actively using the Service.
Payment information
RideWave does not collect, process, or store any payment information. Riders pay drivers directly — either in cash or by card via the driver's own payment terminal. The financial transaction takes place between the rider and the driver; RideWave is not a party to it and never sees card numbers, billing addresses, or charge details.
Driver-specific information
For drivers, we additionally collect: vehicle make, model, year, license plate, vehicle insurance details, driver's license number, and documentation required for Colorado TNC compliance.
Device & usage data
Device type, operating system, browser, IP address, app version, crash reports, and interaction logs (which features are used and when).
Communications
SMS verification codes are sent via Twilio. In-app chat messages between rider and driver are stored in our database for safety, dispute resolution, and quality assurance.
How We Use Information
We use your information to:
- Create and manage your account;
- Match riders with available drivers and dispatch rides;
- Calculate fares, distances, and estimated arrival times;
- Provide customer support and resolve disputes;
- Send transactional notifications (ride status, receipts, account updates);
- Improve the Service, fix bugs, and develop new features;
- Detect, prevent, and investigate fraud, abuse, and safety incidents;
- Comply with legal obligations, court orders, and regulatory requirements;
- Enforce our Terms of Service and Driver Agreement.
Sharing Information
We do not sell your personal information.
We share information in limited circumstances:
- Between rider and driver during a ride. The driver sees the rider's first name, profile photo, rating, pickup, and destination. The rider sees the driver's first name, photo, rating, vehicle make/model, license plate, and current location.
- With service providers who help us operate the platform (see Section 5).
- For legal compliance when required by law, subpoena, court order, or to protect rights, property, or safety.
- For business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, subject to confidentiality.
- With your consent for any other purpose disclosed at the time of collection.
Service Providers
We use the following third-party services to operate RideWave. Each has its own privacy policy:
| Service | Purpose | Data Shared |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase / Google Cloud | Authentication, database, file storage, real-time sync, hosting | Account data, ride records, location, chat messages |
| Google Maps Platform | Maps, directions, distance/time calculation, geocoding | Pickup/drop-off addresses, real-time location |
| Twilio | SMS verification, transactional messages | Phone number, message content |
| SendGrid | Transactional email | Email address, message content |
| Netlify | Web hosting and content delivery | IP address, browser type, request logs |
SMS Text Messaging
RideWave uses SMS text messaging (delivered via Twilio) to send transactional and account-related communications. By providing your mobile phone number and consenting to receive SMS messages during signup, you agree to receive automated text messages at that number.
Types of messages you may receive
- Ride confirmations — when a ride is requested or scheduled;
- Driver arrival alerts — when your driver is approaching the pickup location;
- Trip status updates — ride started, completed, or cancelled;
- Account verification codes — one-time passcodes for sign-in or sensitive account changes;
- Account and security notifications — password resets, suspicious-activity alerts, profile updates;
- Payment-related notifications — receipts and payment confirmations (where applicable).
Message frequency
Message frequency varies based on your ride activity. A typical ride generates approximately 3 to 5 transactional messages (confirmation, driver assignment, arrival alert, and trip completion). Riders who book multiple rides per day, drivers actively accepting trips, and users completing two-factor authentication may receive more. We do not send marketing or promotional SMS messages.
Costs
Standard message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan. RideWave does not charge you for receiving SMS messages, but your wireless carrier may.
Opting out
You may opt out of receiving SMS messages at any time by replying STOP to any message we send. After replying STOP, you will receive a single confirmation message and no further texts. Note that opting out of SMS may impair your ability to use certain features (such as receiving ride status updates or two-factor authentication codes).
To resume SMS messages after opting out, reply START or UNSTOP to any RideWave number.
Help
For help, reply HELP to any RideWave message, or contact us at rsrs@blackcarservice4u.com.
Supported carriers
SMS service is available on most major U.S. wireless carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Information sharing for SMS
We do not share, sell, or transfer mobile phone numbers or SMS opt-in data with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes. Mobile phone numbers and the information collected during the SMS consent flow are shared only with Twilio (our messaging service provider) for the purpose of delivering the messages described above.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as your account is active. After account closure:
- Ride records are retained for at least seven (7) years for tax, accounting, and regulatory purposes (Colorado PUC requirements);
- Account data is retained for three (3) years after closure for fraud prevention, then anonymized or deleted;
- Driver documents (license, insurance) are retained for the duration of your active driver status plus three (3) years;
- Backup copies may persist for up to ninety (90) days after deletion in primary systems.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you;
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete information;
- Delete your account and associated data, subject to legal retention requirements;
- Object to certain processing or withdraw consent (note: this may prevent us from providing the Service);
- Receive a copy of your data in a portable format;
- Lodge a complaint with the appropriate regulatory authority.
To exercise any of these rights, email rsrs@blackcarservice4u.com. We will respond within 30 days.
Security
We use industry-standard safeguards to protect your information, including encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS), encrypted storage, access controls, and regular security reviews.
No system is perfectly secure. If we discover a breach affecting your personal information, we will notify you and the appropriate authorities as required by law.
Children
RideWave is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child, contact us immediately.
Riders aged 13–17 may use the Service only when accompanied by a fare-paying adult. Drivers must be at least 21 years old.
Cookies & Storage
RideWave uses browser localStorage and sessionStorage to keep you signed in, remember preferences, and improve performance. We do not use third-party advertising cookies. We do not track you across other websites.
